We are looking for caregivers to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At ExpertCare, we are passionate about helping people achieve self-independence and live their fullest lives. We are looking for a compassionate and dependable part-time caregiver to join our team in Oakland County.
The applicant for this role must be able to work afternoons and evenings (start time after 2 PM).
Areas & Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Assist individuals with daily routines such as hygiene, dressing, and eating, fostering independence and monitoring their health and safety.
Support Services: Help with household tasks, promote skill-building, and engage in meaningful activities to support self-confidence and life skills.
Community Engagement: Accompany individuals to local parks, libraries, or other community spaces to encourage social interaction and independence. (MUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LICENSE AND ID)
Specialized Care: Follow individual care plans, using patience and empathy to manage behaviors and provide personalized support.
Additional Duties: Assist with tasks as assigned, always prioritizing the well-being of those in your care.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required. We offer paid training - you must have a computer or laptop to successfully complete online training.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
- Skills & Abilities: Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills are crucial for this role.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Training: Complete required online training and attend two in-person sessions in Troy, MI.
- Compliance: Ability to pass background checks and maintain reliable attendance.
Physical Demands:
Caregiver duties may include regular speaking, hearing, occasional standing, walking, and completing manual tasks such as lifting (up to 40 lbs). Reasonable accommodations are available based on individual needs.
