Compensation: $22 per hour, Weekly Pay
Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Attendant to assist a college student with muscular dystrophy at Oakland Community College, Auburn Hills campus. The primary responsibility of this position is to help set up for college classes, ensuring the student’s needs are met before and after class time.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting up for classes, ensuring accessibility for the student.
- Provide physical assistance in classroom and campus settings as needed.
- Help with mobility, including navigating between buildings or locations on campus.
- Support with any equipment, supplies, or adjustments required to facilitate the student’s participation in class activities.
- Maintain open communication with the student to address any additional needs or accommodations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required.
- Must be patient, dependable, and sensitive to the needs of individuals with muscular dystrophy.
- Ability to lift and assist with mobility tasks.
- Must be available during class hours:
- Mondays at 12 pm, then after class at 1:50 pm until picked up by parent.
- Wednesdays at 12 pm, then after class at 1:50 pm to assist to next class at 2 pm, then packing up after 4:50 pm until picked up by parent.
- Up to 5.5 hours per week of services
- Must be punctual, professional, and reliable.
