The Director of Elementary Instruction plans, organizes, coordinates, administers, and evaluates the Explore Learning model curriculum and instructional program in the primary grades kindergarten through 5th grade. He/She leads the elementary teachers and staff professional development program so as to achieve the highest quality and efficiency consistent with organizational resources and goals. The Director of Elementary Instruction duties include:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Continued development of the Explore Learning curriculum
- Coordinate efforts with the Director of Secondary Instruction
- Communicate to the organizational team the requirements and needs of the elementary grades at each site related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Provide year-long support to teachers through observation, one-on-one and team meetings
- Encourage and train on engaging and innovative teaching, flavored instruction, project-based learning, and student-led instruction in order to improve instruction and fulfill our school’s mission
- Implement and manage the mentor program for teachers new to the profession
- Conduct formal and informal observations of staff
- Conduct observations and meet regularly with teachers, working particularly close with teachers on support plans
- Encourage ethical practices of teachers
- Support administration and participate in interviews of new staff as assigned
- Develop and align professional development for new staff and conduct annual training in conjunction with the Director of Secondary Instruction
- Provide opportunities for the professional growth and development of certified and support staff
- Review instructional data and recommend action steps for continued growth
- Facilitate professional development as needed or required
- Collaborate with site administration to provide instructional leadership
- Coordinate cross-campus efficacy assessment of educational program
- Ensure staff are utilizing inclusive instructional practices based on research, best practice, and effective differentiation strategies
- Align grading and assessment practices that support learning for all students
- Ensure equitable practices in and out of the classroom
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education:
- Master’s Degree or Higher OR Bachelor’s Degree and National Board Certification 10 Years Relevant Experience
- Teaching License
