What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrumentation & Controls - Summer Internship position at Explorer Pipeline?
The I&C Intern's focus will mainly be instrumentation, PLC & HMI systems, and infrastructure as they relate to operational technology and will have an opportunity to be directly involved in numerous projects which may include, but are not limited to: Station Automation Upgrade involving ControlLogix, SLC500, and/or GE 90-30 PLCs, PLC communications Upgrades, Tank Level Transmitter Upgrades, Leak Detection and Vapor Monitor installations.
Other Activities include:
- Marking up instrumentation and electrical drawings.
- Wiring field devices.
- Sizing wire, conduits and calculating conduit fills
- Verifying control panel layouts and wiring
- Assist in system checkout, commissioning and start up
- Working with, modifying and verifying control systems documentation including P&IDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, PID Loop documentation and Cause and Effect Diagrams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful intern candidate will have:
- completed their college Sophomore (2nd) year by this summer (degree focus should be in either Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronic Systems Technology or related field of study)
- be self-motivated
- a high level of verbal and written communication skills
- outstanding project execution capability
- ability to travel up to 10%
