Full job description

Expo Event Services is currently seeking an experienced CAD designer / drafter to manage our tradeshow & special event division.

As a CAD Designer / Drafter for Expo Event Services trade show division you will create production drawings for trade show floor plans, exhibit booths, carpet plans, exhibit counters, kiosks, wall plans and 3D exhibits, etc. Drawings must be completed to Fire Marshall standards and be show site ready for the onsite production to utilize for installation of the pipe & drape booths, show exhibits and trade show display furnishings.  

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive trade show layout plans for display fabrication, encompassing general dimensioning, carpet placement, electrical configurations, hanging signs, and graphic positioning for booth installations
• Create functional and realistic 3D design concepts for client presentations.
• Create production drawings for use in custom fabrication, procurement and tradeshow install / dismantle applications. Drawings must include dimensions, recommended build materials, close-up detailed views and exploded isometric assemblies with installation instructions when necessary.
• Specify material, hardware, electrical / lighting specifications and building techniques in accordance with client requirements and trade show standards. Drawing includes hardware detail, finish notes, and assembly instructions.
• Manage drawing layers and utilize appropriate scales for text, dimensions, lines, viewpoints, etc.
• Conduct on-site measurements of venue facilities and translate them into accurate CAD prints, floor plans, elevations, electrical setups, networking setups, and shop-ready close-up prints.
• Demonstrate strong technical, organizational, and communication skills to produce drawings that facilitate seamless installation and construction.
• Will work closely with Sales, Project Management, and Production personnel daily.

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our exhibition team.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in CAD drafting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD software in 3D environment
• Proficient with Autodesk products: Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD P&ID and/or Plant 3D
• 4-5 years of working experience with Adobe Indesign & Adobe suite of programs.
• Proficiency in ExpoCad Contractor software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Able to assertively present creative and functional ideas for projects.
• Innovative, creative problem-solving skills.
• Possess advanced computer skills with proficiency in a PC environment.
• Demonstrated aptitude for Design and Structural Mechanics.
• Display excellence in knowledge of production materials and the extent to which these may be utilized in exhibit production.
• Able to read and discern information from production schematics.
• Able to design and create detail drawings with production in mind.
• Able to effectively explain and present finished work to Impact sales, creative, production and I&D departments.
• Highly disciplined, able and willing to follow a well-organized time management system and possess multi-tasking ability.
• Previous experience in Tradeshow settings is advantageous.
