Job Overview:
The Construction Controller is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting for the company. This includes developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compiance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Construction Controller also works closely with other members of the management team to provide financial analyiss and support for decision making.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reconcile the job cost for the various Express companies.
- Monitor accounting transactions throughout the month and resolve any issues that occur in the process daily.
- Prepare and assist with monthly bank reconciliations and intercompany allocations (A/P).
- Balance intercompany cash accounts and interact with the Project Managers and Leadership to assist them with subcontracts, insurance issues, and job cost details.
- Collaborate with accounts payable to review and approve payment requests (invoices, lien waivers, check request forms, etc).
- Assist and manage budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Respond to requests for information and analysis from the leadership team within the Express family of companies on various accounting and financial issues.
- Work on a variety of different projects throughout the month that are delegated from the Vice President or other Leadership.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Qualified canddiates must have a Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- 3-5years of public or construction related accounting experience preferred
- CPA preferred
- 1 Years Experience in the construction or related industry
- Advanced Excel and IT skills considered a plus
an experienced Controller to join our team. As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. This is a vital role that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger accounting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal controls, including SOX
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships
- Oversee the preparation of tax returns and coordinate with external auditors
- Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in a public accounting firm or corporate setting
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Solid understanding of regulatory reporting requirements
- Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong leadership and management skills
