We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Hardware Imaging & Standards Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on evaluating new PC hardware, peripherals, and accessories, ensuring compliance with global security standards, and maintaining hardware imaging and certification processes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, the ability to collaborate across teams, and a passion for exploring emerging technologies. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining hardware standards, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with vendors on systemic hardware-related concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate New PC Hardware and Accessories:
- Assess and test new PC hardware, peripherals, and accessories to ensure compatibility and performance standards.
- Perform data, driver, and image captures for new hardware components.
- Validate Hardware Security Requirements:
- Ensure that all hardware meets global security standards and specifications, maintaining compliance across all devices and platforms.
- Establish and Maintain Global Hardware Standards:
- Develop and implement global hardware standards for new PC models.
- Regularly review and update hardware standards to keep pace with emerging technologies.
- Troubleshooting and Investigation:
- Investigate and troubleshoot hardware, OS, and driver-related issues that arise during the certification process.
- Provide timely and effective resolutions to ensure seamless certification and functionality.
- Vendor Coordination and Roadmaps:
- Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and vendors regarding hardware standards and certifications.
- Initiate and coordinate systemic issues with hardware vendors and monitor vendor roadmaps for new and emerging technologies.
- Documentation Management:
- Create, update, and manage documentation related to hardware standards, including:
- Knowledge Base (KB) articles for self-service support.
- Fiscal Year (FY) PC hardware standards documents.
- FY EOL (End of Life) models.
- Hardware comparison guides.
- OS-supported models list (SharePoint).
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Software Management Technical Documents (SMTD) for hardware standards and certification.
- Driver and Firmware Analysis:
- Conduct regular analysis of new driver and firmware releases, ensuring compatibility with current hardware and identifying potential issues.
- Explore Emerging Technologies:
- Research and assess new technologies for practical implementation in hardware imaging and certification processes.
- DMF Presentations:
- Provide Digital Management Framework (DMF) presentations and reports as needed to update stakeholders on hardware standards and certifications.
- Cross-Functional Communication:
- Maintain open lines of communication with other support teams to ensure alignment and address any cross-functional issues related to hardware standards and imaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience in hardware imaging, PC hardware evaluation, and system integration.
- Strong understanding of hardware security requirements, driver management, and OS compatibility.
- Experience with vendor management and collaboration on hardware certifications.
- Familiarity with documentation management and knowledge-sharing platforms such as SharePoint.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve hardware, OS, and driver-related issues.
- Experience with emerging technologies and their practical applications in hardware imaging and certification.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of PC hardware standards in a global enterprise environment.
- Experience with software deployment and configuration management tools.
