This position will understand all the intricacies of the various internal communications channels and help align them to ensure consistency with messaging, theme, and tone. This individual will be actively involved in writing, formatting, proofreading, editing and integrating content for various print and digital channels. The Strategic Organizational Communications Specialist must be a dynamic team player able to perform in a fast-paced environment and be flexible enough to reprioritize tasks to meet frequently evolving requirements. This position has high level directional guidance from Strategic Organizational Communications Manager and will work closely with various content contributors from across the businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Primary focus will be on management of the various internal communication channels including newsletters, print and digital channels, targeted employee emails, among others.
- Managing the content development process including the sourcing and sorting of content contributions from various internal and external sources.
- Creation and management of the editorial calendar for internal channels.
- Interviewing sources, writing articles/feature stories, editing and proofreading for distribution in various channels.
- Partnering with creative and video production teams to deploy communications to the various internal channels as well as repurpose externally facing content for internal uses.
- Development and execution of a collection and reporting process and other efforts to support a continuous pipeline of story ideas for all channels.
- Project management support for other internal and external deliverables.
- Researching and recommending improvements to current communications channels based on best practices and system analytics.
- Create effective methods for tracking communications, establishing metrics, and analyzing the results of activity; presenting findings with recommendations.
- Assists in the development and implementation of other employee engagement initiatives and builds opportunities for information sharing and collaboration.
- Assist with the coordination of headquarters events as part of communications.
- Examples may include open houses, team meetings, department initiatives, offsite meetings, etc.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent experience in journalism, communications or related fields
- 3-5 years’ experience performing equivalent work in an agency or corporate communications environment.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling, as well as strong interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interface with senior management and influence outcomes.
- Ability to work within and across multiple teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues within short period of time are crucial to the position.
- Highly organized, with a strong ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, goal-oriented individuals comfortable with technology and digital tools.
- Role is hands-on with a need to think strategically and execute.
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative, highly creative.
