Responsibilities
- Develop the system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts, as well as stipulate bookkeeping policies and procedures.
- Records transactions and posts debits/credits.
- Produces financial statements and other reports.
- Verify, allocate, and post details of financial transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files.
- Summarize details on separate ledgers or computer files and transfer data to the general ledger.
- Reconcile and balance accounts. Prepare checks, payments, and bank deposits.
- Compile reports to show financial data including cash receipts and expenditures, accounts receivable and payable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to business operations.
- Calculate employee wages and prepare checks for payroll.
- Calculate and prepare tax statements.
- Maintain internal control systems and track inventory records.
- Prepare financial statements including trial balance, income, and balance sheet.
- Maintain a complete filing system to support financial records.
