Key Responsibilities
- Excavation Operations: Operate excavation equipment to dig trenches, locate utilities, and expose underground infrastructure according to project requirements.
- Utility Identification: Use utility maps, diagrams, and electronic locating devices to accurately identify and mark the location of underground utilities before excavation begins.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members, utility companies, and project managers to coordinate excavation activities, minimize disruptions, and maintain project timelines.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on excavation equipment and report any mechanical issues or defects to the supervisor for prompt repair.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections of excavated areas to verify the integrity of utilities, backfill trenches appropriately, and restore work areas to their original condition.
- Experience: Prior experience operating excavation equipment.
- Skills: Proficiency in using excavation machinery and tools; ability to read and interpret utility maps and diagrams.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials, work in various weather conditions, and perform manual labor as required.
- License/Certification: Valid driver's license and any necessary certifications for operating excavation equipment.
- Hours: Day shift, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: Starting at $20 per hour or higher depending on experience and qualifications.
