Key Responsibilities :
Medical Coding :
Reviewing patient charts and recording medical procedures and diagnoses using appropriate coding systems (ICD-10, CPT).
Ensuring accuracy and compliance with national and state coding laws and regulations.
Billing Procedures :
Preparing and submitting claims to insurance companies and healthcare payers for reimbursement.
Resolving billing discrepancies by following up with insurance providers or patients as needed.
Record Keeping :
Maintaining updated patient billing records and coding information to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Updating administrative documents and patient files to reflect proper billing and coding practices.
Communication :
Acting as a liaison between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to address billing inquiries.
Providing clear explanations of billing procedures and insurance claims to patients.
Compliance Audits :
Conducting routine audits of medical billing and coding practices to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
Staying updated on changes in policies and regulations related to medical billing and coding.
Professional Development :

Experience / Qualifications :
Education :
GED or equivalent education is required.
Additional certifications in medical billing and coding (e.g., AAPC, AHIMA) are preferred.
Experience :
Previous experience in medical billing and coding or a similar healthcare role
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical coding software is preferred.
Skills :
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for accurate coding and billing.
