About the Role - The Lead Mechanical Engineer will work closely with other engineers, designers, procurement personnel, manufacturing department, suppliers and sales team to develop, improve, and maintain products supporting the subsea industry. Responsible for the design and development of all aspects of mechanical components rated for subsea use. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as underwater propulsion systems, electric rotary and linear actuators, electro-hydraulic systems, power transmissions, etc. This will be a forward-facing position, which includes daily managers meetings and customer interface as required.
Responsibilities
- Leads a small team of mechanical engineers in a mentoring and supervisory capacity.
- Reviews drawings for accuracy and ensures timely release to manufacturing.
- Design, development, and analysis of subsea pressure vessels, including sealing interface design, material selection and weight optimization.
- Design of subsea rated electro-mechanical devices such as rotary or linear actuators, hydraulic pumps, propulsion thrusters, and various other assemblies.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to write and create specifications, analysis and develop new products for subsea use.
- Perform Finite element analysis and / or Failure Mode Effect Analysis as required.
- Creates mechanical 2D and 3D drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
- Participate and / or lead in customer technical discussions, design reviews, and project status.
- Function as a project engineer as required to ensure custom jobs are on time, within budget and meet technical requirements.
- Facilitate and hold design review meetings with other team members to complete DFMEA and / or PFMEA documentation as required.
- Communicate with material or fabrication vendor / suppliers when technical needs arise.
- Support Manufacturing during assembly and testing of new designs.
Qualifications - Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and 4-10 years of experience in the field, with preference in the manufacturing industry and / or subsea applications.

Pay range and compensation package - To $135,000, depending on experience Health / Dental Plan
