A local Atchison warehouse is seeking a Material Handler to join their team for a temp-to-hire assignment

Location: Atchison KS

Pay: $18.00/hr

Schedule: 9:00am-5:30pm, M-F

Job Summary

As a Material Handler, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the movement, storage, and organization of materials within our warehouse facilities. You will play a crucial role in maintaining efficient inventory management, ensuring accurate product handling, and supporting the overall logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Handling: Safely and efficiently handle incoming and outgoing materials, including receiving, sorting, storing, and retrieving products. Utilize material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or conveyors, to move materials within the warehouse.
• Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by properly labeling, tagging, and tracking materials. Conduct regular cycle counts and stock checks to ensure inventory accuracy and identify any discrepancies. Collaborate with the inventory control team to resolve any issues and maintain optimal stock levels.
• Order Fulfillment: Retrieve materials and products based on customer orders or internal requests. Ensure accurate picking, packing, and staging of items for shipment or distribution. Collaborate with the shipping team to coordinate loading and unloading activities, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
• Equipment Operation: Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, in a safe and proficient manner. Conduct routine inspections of equipment, report any malfunctions or damage, and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed. Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices while operating equipment.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Adhere to regulatory requirements, including proper handling and storage of hazardous materials, if applicable. Report any safety incidents or near-misses to the appropriate personnel and actively participate in safety training programs.
• Documentation and Reporting: Accurately complete documentation and paperwork related to material handling activities, including receiving reports, pick tickets, and shipping manifests. Maintain records of inventory transactions, including material movements, stock levels, and order fulfillment activities.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in warehouse operations or material handling are a plus.
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
• Strong knowledge of material handling equipment and techniques, including forklift operation and palletizing.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and software for tracking and documenting materials.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling and recording materials to maintain inventory integrity.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and follow instructions effectively.
