What are the responsibilities and job description for the Air Export Agent position at EXPRESS LINE CORPORATION?
PURPOSE
The Air Export Agent will coordinate air export shipments for an assigned base of accounts under the direct supervision of a Station Manager. The Air Export Agent will assist with duties related to customer service, document preparation and traffic coordination required to service export shipments in a cost-efficient manner within Company standards.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build relationships with all customers, other offices, overseas agents and service providers
- Become knowledgeable of global standard operating procedures to ensure government and corporate compliance is maintained with all aspects of the daily operation.
- Contribute to and maintain strong vendor relationships through clear and accurate communication
- Prepare and process Airway Bills, Insurance Certifications, Certificates of Origin, Consular Documents, Shipper’s Export Declarations and Customs Invoices
- Receive, review, and process export documentation for an assigned base of accounts following Shipper Letters of Instruction accurately.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of export documentations – Review & Verify
- Coordinate, book and confirm cargo space with airlines and/or gateway
- Prepare and/or send advance notification of shipments and documents to banks, shippers, consignees, destination offices as required and within Company standards
- Track shipments and communicate with client’s and vendors about the shipment’s progress
- Calculate air export rate quotes
- Report irregularities in operations and new customer requirements to management for decisions on additional service requirements
- Full and accurate completion of other departmental or station task as assigned by Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager or District Manager.
- Other duties may be assigned by management due to business change or business need.
SKILLS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB

- Windows Operating System
- MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and Access)
Business
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in logistics/freight forwarding industry, preferred
- Thorough understanding of air shipment documentation process, a plus
- Demonstrated critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks, and identifying alternative solutions or approaches
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Time management skills
Human Relations
- Self-motivated, with an ability to self-manage
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills
