These organizations include school districts, hospitals, doctor's offices, and more. We also transport individuals and families to and from appointments or simply when they need a ride.
About the job:
Responsible for all aspects involved in the day-to-day operating, loading, and unloading of passengers with mobility challenges into and out of a vehicle equipped with lift platforms for stretchers, gurneys and/or wheelchairs. Provides safe, compassionate, dignified, and timely transportation for passengers with mobility challenges.
Responsibilities
- Pre-trip inspection of the vehicle before the beginning of shift.
- Operate the vehicle within the limits of the law and obey all traffic signs/signals.
- Arrive on time at all scheduled stops.
- Transfer or assist patients into and out of the vehicle ensuring the passenger is properly secured and any assistive devices are properly stowed and secured as indicated by the equipment and vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations prior to transport.
- Monitor passenger activity periodically while taking care not to become distracted.
- Provide oversight and direction to Monitors and/or Helpers assigned to the same trip.
- Communicate with Dispatch regularly throughout your shift via tablet, cell phone, radio or other supplied device(s).
- Alert Field Supervisor of any problems related to the position, trip or passenger.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- Must have a clean criminal record and pass a drug screening.
Education:
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Proven experience in customer service or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with safety and emergency procedures.
- First Aid, AED and CPR certification preferred.
Abilities:
- Ability to assist passengers courteously and efficiently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 150 pounds
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must have no more than three (3) traffic citations in the previous 36 months and no driver’s license suspensions or revocations within the past five years.
- Must maintain a clean driving record throughout employment with EMT
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license which allows for the operation of vehicles “for hire” (Class “E” in Missouri, Class “D” in Illinois)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
