What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at ExpressIt Delivery?
The Operations Manager reports to the SVP of Operations. The successful candidate will be an outgoing leader, with prior Courier, Dispatch, Warehouse Supervisor or Delivery industry experience. They will be responsible for maximizing deliverables for our customers by managing the day to day dispatch of our drivers and other essential duties. This role will foster a pipeline of qualified drivers and vendors by building strong relationships and ensuring retention. Familiarity, and the applicant’s residential proximity to the territory, will be deciding factors. Salary is negotiable and based upon experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Thoroughly learn and understand the Company’s business and functionality.
· Flawless execution of our customer’s courier, day to day, delivery needs and deliver results that meet or exceed customer expectations.
· Engage and inspire our drivers to deliver under our core value of “best in class” service. Spend in-person time on client site to ensure support, quality control and accountability.
· Ensure appropriate third party/partner Carriers are being contacted, vetted and utilized.
· Partner with Human Resources to build pool of top candidates for all open driver positions.
· Manage the daily dispatch requirements and routes (both re-occurring and same day) through our eCourier system – be a subject matter expert in the system and all its functionality.
· Partner with Human Resources on Employee Relations issues, onboarding and offboarding.
· Responsible for GPS tracking, route audits and NY compliance list.
· Support business development opportunities, as identified.
· Build strong client relationships by spending time on-site.
· Broker additional delivery jobs with new clients as they arise.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· 5 years of progressive experience within the Courier or Delivery industry is preferred.
· Reliable transportation, GPS enabled phone and the commitment to travel between customer locations, as needed, often with very little notice (you must have your own vehicle).
· Proven results, a service orientation, and solid people leadership skills.
· Sound judgement with the ability to think on your feet and solve problems, as they arise, daily.
· Team player with strong communication skills and proven relationship building ability.
· Ability to multi task, organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
