Cost Accountant

Our client in Deerfield is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team! This role is essential in analyzing and managing production costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing setting, along with the ability to collaborate across departments to drive cost-saving initiatives.

Salary - $65-75K
Onsite - Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and monitor production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, ensuring accurate cost allocation and reporting.
• Conduct variance analysis to identify inefficiencies, assess cost trends, and provide recommendations for cost control improvements.
• Develop, update, and maintain standard cost models, overseeing periodic cost reviews to align with financial objectives.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes by ensuring accurate cost-related transactions and reconciliations.
• Work closely with operations and production teams to identify areas for process improvement and implement cost-reduction strategies.
• Support inventory management efforts by ensuring accuracy in raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods through cycle counts and variance analysis.
• Maintain compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and industry standards to uphold reporting accuracy and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field/experience
  • CPA or CMA preferred but not required
• 3 years cost accounting experience 
• Proficient in ERP systems and Excel
