Job Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs work involving the skills of maintenance to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and the building infrastructure in good working order. Conducts preventive maintenance (PM) and maintenance, facility or equipment improvement projects and service and repairs in the areas of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, construction and machine servicing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Maintain facility operations including organization, maintenance, and safety of the facility and equipment/machinery
- Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment
- Performs PM procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis
- Diagnose problems and determine how to correct them, checking diagrams, drawings, blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary
- Performs electrical repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; repairs lighting systems; assist in computer cable runs; inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions; maintains and regularly test working condition of safety equipment including fire alarm, emergency lighting, and intercom systems
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
- Support facility and equipment repairs involving one or more of the following areas: carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing; thermal chambers and vibration test systems
- Perform or support facility build-out or construction projects
- Support new equipment installations
- Strong background in facilities maintenance with working knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, landscaping, etc.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies on an on-call basis.
- Hands-on operations with both large and small, fragile assemblies.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Use various mechanical tools without instruction.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required; Associate degree (AA/AS) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years of experience working with and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- 2 years of experience operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools.
- A demonstrated ability in reading and understanding technical drawings, manuals, and reports.
- Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
- Able to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Experience with either pneumatic, hydraulic, or electrical systems.
- Experience Operating heavy machinery including forklifts and aerial platforms.
- Must be experienced in Microsoft operating systems and software.
- Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
- Physical effort includes standing, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Must be able to support overtime during the week and on weekends as required to support business needs.
