Overview
The Director of Finance will play a critical role in the financial success of Canopy by Hilton at Deer Valley, overseeing all budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting. This Deer Valley-based position requires expertise in managing complex financial operations, including pre-opening budgets, monthly financial reporting, and oversight of multiple F&B operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can ensure alignment with ownership, asset management, and brand partners.
Key Responsibilities

Budgeting and Accountability
- Develop, monitor, and manage pre-opening and operational budgets and ensuring adherence to financial goals.
- Ensure all expense line items are tied to approved budgets, adjusting as necessary.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with department heads to ensure budgets are understood, checkbooks are balanced, and productivity-focused scheduling is implemented.

Cost Control and Financial Oversight
- Implement and enforce cost control measures across all departments.
- Supervise payroll processes and purchasing activities to maintain fiscal accountability.
- Conduct weekly labor reviews, comparing actuals to schedules, and adjust staffing levels as needed to optimize costs.

Franchise and Brand Partner Engagement
- Monitor and analyze ROI from brand contributions, including Hilton’s marketing and loyalty programs, ensuring alignment with property goals.
- Collaborate with Hilton and Canopy representatives to leverage brand support and maintain compliance with standards.

Monthly Reporting

Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all required financial and operational reports, including:
- Standard financial statements (Trial Balance, Operating Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows) with departmental schedules per the Uniform System of Accounts.
- Hotel performance reports (e.g., Franchise, ADR, Sales, Occupancy, STR).
- Trailing 12-month NOI statements.
- Franchise/management inspection and formal Hotel Manager reports.

Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all required financial and operational reports, including:

Technology and Financial Systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in using various financial and operational systems, including experience with accounting, POS, PMS, and procurement systems.
- Leverage software solutions to streamline operations and enhance reporting accuracy.

Deer Valley-Park City Market Dynamics and Legislation
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Deer Valley hospitality market, including recent legislation impacting labor laws, wage requirements, and environmental mandates.
- Adapt financial strategies to navigate local complexities and escalating operating costs.
- Sales and Incentive Oversight
- Review and manage the performance-based incentives for the sales team, ensuring accurate and timely payouts.
- Align sales strategies with financial objectives to maximize profitability.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of financial leadership experience, preferably in hospitality or mixed-use properties.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
