Overview
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our Canopy by Hilton at Deer Valley, a high-profile property under the Hilton franchise, self-managed by Extell Hospitality Services (EHS). This role requires an individual who combines strong leadership with a deep understanding of a mountain resort market, exceptional financial acumen, strong lifestyle food & beverage background and a keen eye for integrating multiple sub-brands within a cohesive hospitality story.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all operations of the 180-room property, including an extensive and elevated food & beverage program, ensuring excellence in guest experience and service delivery.
- Drive sales and marketing strategies with a strong focus on digital marketing, customer acquisition, and brand loyalty program engagement.
- Be well-versed in Hilton booking platforms, loyalty program operations, fee structures, brand food & beverage programs and compliance requirements.
- Execute and report in alignment with Hilton brand standards and guidelines.
- Lead and manage pre-opening and opening activities, establishing operational excellence from day one.
- Experience overseeing extensive food & beverage outlets and their integration into the overall Canopy brand experience.
- Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and creative problem-solving within the team.
- Ensure financial targets are met, supervising budgets, forecasting, and reporting.
- Cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation, adapting strategies to stay competitive in the highly competitive Deer Valley resort market.
- Implement effective labor management practices in line with the complexities of a seasonal resort market.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a General Manager in a full-service hotel with a minimum of 2 years in an upscale property.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree

- Proven experience as a General Manager in a similar high-profile property, ideally in resort markets.
- Luxury/Upscale Lifestyle experience.
- In-depth knowledge of seasonal resort markets.
- Experience with Hilton systems and processes.

Skills:
- Expertise in pre-opening and opening of large-scale hotels.
- Demonstrated success in sales and marketing, with a focus on digital channels.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience overseeing budgets, revenue strategies, and third-party financial oversight.
- Ability to manage and integrate diverse F&B concepts into the larger hotel operation.
- Experience with retail relationship management and partnerships.
- Innovative thinker with a track record of driving productivity and operational efficiency
- Critical thinker with extensive knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget/forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry reporting, regulations, and best practices
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Hilton systems, reporting, and loyalty program management. Additional proficiencies in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and other relevant software.
