REPORTS TO: Athletic Coach
Position Summary
ELO Athletics Coach/Elementary Athletics Coach provides an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for an assigned group of youngsters while they learn individual and team game skills, sportsmanship, and fair play.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with Practice and Game Planning:
- Help develop and implement practice plans and game strategies under the guidance of the head coach.
- Participate in practice sessions, providing instruction and feedback to players.
- Assist in scouting opponents and analyzing their strengths and weaknesses.
- Player Development and Mentorship:
- Mentor and guide student-athletes, both on and off the field, promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
- Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Help develop individual player skills and athletic abilities.
- Team Management and Organization:
- Assist with team organization, including managing equipment, scheduling practices and games, and communicating with parents and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of player attendance, performance, and eligibility.
- Ensure that all team members are aware of and adhere to team rules and expectations.
- Safety and Well-being:
- Ensure the safety of student-athletes during practices and games, following all relevant safety protocols.
- Provide first aid and injury management when necessary.
- Promote a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Other Duties as Assigned:
- Assist with fundraising activities, community outreach, and other tasks as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on coaching techniques and best practices.
- Represent the school and athletic program in a positive and professional manner
Required Qualifications:
- Passionate in working with students from underserved communities
- General knowledge of coaching techniques, competitive coaching strategies, conditioning, and procedures
- Ability to support sport program for all levels of the specific sport; to teach values of teamwork, self-sacrifice, responsibility obedience and good sportsmanship; motivate student athletes.
- Knowledge of CIF/Conference rules
- Department of Justice clearance based on fingerprinting submission.
- Proof of TB test within the last four months.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior coaching, referee, or playing experience
- Experienced or a desire to work in a diverse school district
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation will be on an hourly basis and is considered a temporary role. Compensation will depend on experience and qualifications as determined by the school site. This is a non-union role.
Work Schedule
Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week after school hours (includes meetings, practice and games)
Dates vary based on the below schedule of sports.
General Sports Schedule:
Co-Ed Flag Football: October-December
Boys Basketball: January-March
Girls Basketball: January-March
Boys Soccer: April-june
Girls Soccer: April-June
Co-Ed Cheerleading: October-June
