What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medically Fragile Program Nurse (LPN/RN) Extended School Year position at Extended School Year?
This position is for Extended School Year, Summer 2025. The program will run July 8, 2025-August 8, 2025. Students will be in session Monday through Thursday each week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess and address student health needs, including acute and chronic conditions.
- Provide direct care for illness, injury, and medical procedures within the scope of school nursing.
- Administer medications and perform health care procedures as ordered.
- Respond to medical emergencies throughout the school and grounds, carrying necessary emergency supplies.
- Communicate with students, parents, and caregivers regarding health concerns and necessary follow-ups.
- Develop and implement Individual Health Care Plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans as needed.
- Ensure compliance with immunization requirements and manage student health records.
- Delegate care appropriately, providing necessary training and oversight.
- Maintain inventory of health supplies and recommend necessary purchases.
- Support student participation in field trips by attending or arranging nursing coverage.
- Monitor health trends and report communicable diseases as required.
- Collaborate with school staff and participate in team meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of ESY.
