What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech and Language Pathologist Extended School Year position at Extended School Year?
This position is for Extended School Year, Summer 2025. The program will run July 8, 2025-August 8, 2025. Students will be in session Monday through Thursday each week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments, and then assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community, as appropriate;
- Provide a therapeutic program and develop specific performance objectives to meet individual needs of speech and hearing handicapped children, as prescribed by the Evaluation Team, and collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities;
- Maintain thorough, ongoing records of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as individual students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services. Maintain a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services;
- Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement, and provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate;
- Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for recertification;
- Share responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his/her grade/team/department, building and school district, attending all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator
