PURPOSE
To provide treadmill exercise stress testing to assess cardiovascular function and capacity. Works in collaboration with cardiology providers to administer tests following a specified protocol. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization supported.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs treadmill exercise stress testing for busy cardiology department.
- Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
- Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
- Sets up and verifies status of equipment.
- Records and calculates all necessary parameters including manual blood pressure.
- Provides a safe and encouraging environment for cardiology patients.
- Recognizes abnormal ECG tracings.
- Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
- Regular and dependable attendance.
- Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Required: High school diploma or GED. Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) certification or at least six (6) months of experience performing diagnostic stress tests in a clinical setting (other than cardiac rehab or sports medicine).
Preferred: Bachelor’s in Exercise Science or related field. Experience in an outpatient cardiology practice. At least one (1) year of experience in exercise/treadmill stress testing and EKG.
Certificate/License
Required: Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with document imaging and workflow systems.
- Strong knowledge base in cardiovascular physiology, exercise physiology. ACSM guidelines and ELK interpretation.
- Ability to perform job functions, troubleshoot problems and make decisions without direct supervision.
- Must be flexible in daily assignments and able to cross-cover within an assigned work group.
- Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instruction and must be able to communicate with co-workers to perform duties as part of a work group.
- Must display a high level of accuracy, critical thinking and organization.
- Must be able to carry 20 pounds and lift 5 pounds overhead.
- Strong computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm. Three days will be at the South 1st clinic and two days will be at the Northwest Hills clinic.
