Ravenscroft is an independent, coeducational day school in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 1,250 students in grades PreK-12.

Reports to: Director of Fine Arts
Essential Job Duties:
- The successful candidate should bring energy, curriculum development skills, and artistic expertise to the Dramatic Arts department. Other responsibilities and necessary competencies include:
- Demonstrate best practices in Drama and Technical Theatre
- Teach four sections of daily curricular classes with the remainder of the load taking place after school on department productions. Instruction may include specialty areas of directing, set design/construction, lighting design, choreography, etc.
- Exhibit excellent teaching skills appropriate for middle school sections of drama and/or technical theatre
- Collaborate on two to three extra curricular productions each year (i.e., plays and musical)
- Work with other Drama faculty to cover all setups and theatre management for institutional events
- Work with other Drama faculty to cover evening activities in the theatre (for additional compensation)
- Collaborate with faculty for productions as needed in the theatre and black box, and collaborate with performance ensembles’ setups for concerts
- Interact effectively with parents, colleagues, and members of the administration
- Develop a passion for drama, stage management and technical theatre, and attract students to curricular and extracurricular experiences on and behind the stage
- Work effectively with students of different artistic abilities and interests in the theatre
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a Dramatic Arts field or Bachelor of Fine Arts; Master of Fine Art highly desirable; previous teaching experience in an independent school setting preferred.
