What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor - Second Shift position at External Job Board?
The Production Supervisor is a member of the plant leadership team and plays a key role in providing team management and leadership to deliver business results and operational improvements. Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Senior Supervisor, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing operations for an assigned shift. The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required.
- Supervises and coordinates the employees and activities of the department/production function to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards are met or exceeded.
- Coordinates and applies preventative/productive/corrective maintenance techniques toward monitoring and reducing maintenance and repair costs.
- Facilitates the on-the-job training and development of subordinates’ skills to ensure a continued high level of production and morale.
- Facilitates communications and dissemination of information between crew operations.
- Maintains production, spoilage, machine, records.
- Responsible for monitoring machine parts and supplies for production equipment as needed to maintain their good working order.
- Evaluates products and machinery to ensure compliance with established quality and maintenance standards.
- Furnishes preventative maintenance plans, work orders, schedules, results, and any revisions to the maintenance standards.
- Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer.
- Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
- Perform downtime analysis and implement corrections to performance misses on their crew in Safety, Quality, and efficiency
- Participate in root cause and team problem solving events to improve plant performance
Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
- BA/BS in business, engineering, applied science or related fields preferred
- Excellent attendance record
- Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates fostering a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan, monitor, and schedule tasks with excellent time management skills
- 3 years supervisor experience within a food handling facility preferred
- Certifications/Licenses/Other: Lean Six Sigma training and Green Belt Certification-Preferred
- Working knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) sanitation methods, and HACCP/FSMA.
- Must be able to work independently and work efficiently with little or no supervision
- Ability to collect, analyze and present facts in written and oral communication
- Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Work Environment:
Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which may require special safety precautions working around moving machines in production facilities, Protective clothing or gear such as goggles, gloves and shoes may be required.
Physical Demands:
Work requires some physical strain such as long periods standing and walking in production facility and lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment kits and product cases. Other physical demands include climbing, crouching, and reaching.
