Purpose
The Corporate Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s tax function, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations. This role supports strategic tax planning, financial reporting, and risk management, while optimizing the company’s tax position through proactive guidance and collaboration with leadership.
This position requires an experienced tax professional with deep knowledge of corporate tax laws, strong leadership capabilities, and a detail-oriented approach to managing complex tax matters in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Regulatory Filings
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of corporate tax returns across all jurisdictions.
- Manage estimated payments, extensions, and withholding tax compliance.
- Monitor updates in tax legislation and assess impacts on the organization.
- Maintain and manage a comprehensive tax calendar to ensure all deadlines are met.
Tax Planning & Strategy Development
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning initiatives to minimize tax liability.
- Provide tax guidance on business transactions, M&A, restructuring, and international expansions.
- Identify and leverage available tax credits, incentives, and deductions.
- Support global tax planning including transfer pricing and foreign tax compliance.
Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review tax provisions (ASC 740), including deferred tax assets/liabilities and uncertain tax positions.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and SEC guidelines.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams on tax-related journal entries and reconciliations.
Audit & Risk Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for IRS, state, and international tax audits.
- Develop and enforce internal tax policies and procedures to mitigate risk.
- Ensure compliance with SOX and other internal control frameworks.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a high-performing tax team to support growth and development.
- Partner with legal, finance, treasury, and external advisors to align tax strategy with business goals.
- Provide strategic input and tax governance support to executive leadership.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and automation of tax functions.
- Utilize tax technologies such as OneSource, Vertex, Avalara, and ERP platforms to streamline operations.
- Stay informed on evolving tax technologies and integrate best practices into operations.
- Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality for scheduled work hours and meetings. Ensure completion of assigned tasks and responsibilities within defined timeframes.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours during weekdays or weekends with reasonable advance notice to support business/operational needs when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation required; Master’s in Tax or CPA preferred.
- Minimum 7 years in corporate tax with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience with multi-state and international tax matters; public accounting (Big 4 or regional) or large corporate tax department background.
- ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), tax software (OneSource, Avalara, Vertex, etc.), and advanced Excel skills.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and strategic mindset.
