ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

What You Will Do
- The successful candidate will have a broad background in Organic Chemistry with core expertise in organic molecular design and synthesis methodologies as well as reaction mechanisms.
- Applied experience relating to carbon capture technology-relevant organic chemistry, such as amine chemistry, is preferred. Familiarity with technical areas related to gas sorption and separation processes is a desirable plus to the core expertise listed above.
- The candidate should be well-versed in common molecular characterization techniques such as NMR, GC, LC and Mass Spectrometry etc. Additional experience in related fields, such as polymer science, catalysis, reaction kinetics and thermodynamics, is preferred.
- The candidate is expected to make individual contributions while participating on cross-functional teams and demonstrating technical leadership, and to build productive collaborations internally across different functions and businesses as well as with third parties (e.g. academia, industry partners), and to assess and accelerate the pace of technology development and deployment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Organic/Organometallic Chemistry or related fields
- 10 years of experience in chemical industry
- A demonstrated ability to test structure-property hypotheses and relationships by synthesizing and characterizing materials
- Well-versed in common molecular characterization techniques such as NMR, GC, LC and Mass Spectrometry etc.
- A track record of external publications and presentations, and a desire to continue to interact with the external technical community
- Additional experience in related fields, such as polymer science, catalysis, reaction kinetics and thermodynamics
- Strong oral and written communication skills
