Job Role Summary
Responsible for property tax compliance, valuation, and planning activities for all Exxon Mobil Corporation properties within an assigned geographic area of the United States.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure tax payments and tax returns are accurately and timely filed- Gather and analyze financial and operational data; uses data to develop and determine rendition values
- Prepare and negotiate property assessments / values with state and local taxing authorities
- Review and approve Notices of Value
- Develop a thorough knowledge of properties in portfolio
- Maintain property performance benchmarking
- File for eligible exemption and special valuation allowances
- File and negotiate applicable property tax incentives and abatements
- Manage appeals
- Support property tax audits
- Analyze state and local laws to ensure compliance
- Evaluate new and proposed legislation to determine impact
- Prepare business units property tax accrual forecasts
- Provide timely and accurate advice and planning analysis to the business units
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with taxing officials
- Utilize systems to complement and enhance activities
- Initiate and encourage organizational improvements and efficiencies
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Business- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with property value determination and negotiations
Preferred Skills, Abilities, & Knowledge
Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) for Professional in Taxation certification a plus but not required- Strong analytical, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and negotiation skills

- Desire to take ownership of process
- Able to quickly and thoroughly understand client’s business
- Maintain sound business judgement in adversarial situations
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse range of people across multiple locations and cultures

- Willingness to travel domestically <10% of the time
- Oil & gas experience a plus
