As part of the Data Center Construction team, the Director Engineering & Design Management is responsible for assembling engineering and design teams with the requisite qualifications and experience and working with cross functional teams to successfully deliver complex technical solutions that meet client and company outcomes.

Explore Your Tasks And Responsibilities

• Key advisor to Director, Project Delivery on all engineering and design related activities, including reporting on matters in relation to the performance of projects against agreed performance metrics.
• Review of the Employers Requirements to fully determine and understand the conditions, requirements, deliverables, risks and liabilities of the works as defined at business acquisition and or as awarded by the Customer.
• Develop and implement detailed engineering and design management plans and monitor their execution through comprehensive reporting to clients and regional/business unit management.
• Provide technical advice and counsel to Project teams on key day to day activities and associated issues that arise during project execution and delivery.
• Participate in new business opportunities and project review procedures, commencing at regional business unit levels, progressing to Executive Board if value, or perceived exposure exceeds certain thresholds.
• Participate in the review and development of PIRA or TERA prospects, testing the veracity of project plans, standard engineering details and specifications for constructability and conformance to regulatory requirements, and as appropriate develop conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, value engineering studies or alternate technical concepts.
• Review of the Employers Requirements to fully determine and understand the conditions, requirements, deliverables, risks and liabilities of the works as defined at business acquisition and or as awarded by the Customer.
• Develop and implement detailed engineering and design management plans and monitor their execution through comprehensive reporting to clients and regional/business unit management.
• Provide technical advice and counsel to Project teams on key day to day activities and associated issues that arise during project execution and delivery.
• Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships, including with project teams, clients, contractors, partners, etc.
• Lead by example through day-to-day exhibition of Exyte’s core values
• Participate in the preparation of bids and proposals; review specifications, ensure quality of design and output.
• Develop and implement a strategy to ensure that the project has the right engineering capabilities to ensure it is delivered against project/contract requirements.
• Responsible for technical analysis and resolution of engineering problems, providing technical solutions in a timely manner to achieve milestones/schedule.
• Coordinates design/build packages to ensure they are issued in accordance with the schedule and recommends and implements changes in design or construction methods.
• Reviews project drawings and specifications prior to release for construction and identifies and eliminates potential problems.
• Develops Standard Work Process Procedures for quantity tracking and reporting. 
• Works with commercial management to implement a standard quantity reporting work process.
• Participates in monthly project reviews, ensuring projects are being executed in accordance with Exyte standards, practices, and procedures, the contract, and project execution plan.
• Maintain a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels.

Show Your Expertise

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 15 years engineering and design management related experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Data Center market construction trends.
• Membership of a relevant professional construction body.
• Experience and exposure to working for/with a large EPC company.
• Deep knowledge of the Mission Critical/Data Center sectors
• Self-starter with innate sales orientation, optimism, and drive; good organizational skills.
• Hands on approach with a strong commitment to customer service, collaboration and continuous improvement
• Effective people leader with experience managing and developing diverse multidisciplinary teams to deliver tasks within demanding timescales.
• Results driven with a solution-oriented bias
• Effective communicator in oral and written communication.
• Must be able to travel regionally and internationally
