JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer works with the Business Analyst and Development teams to ensure the delivery of quality applications to users. The QA Automation Engineer develops and executes formal test plans, test scripts, and test cases for new or modified software programs to verify that the programs function according to user requirements and conform to established guidelines. Needs to have a passion for expanding their technical knowledge and skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain manual and automated test plans
- Develop and execute automated test scripts using JavaScript and various automation frameworks
- Perform manual verification of software applications
- Communicate, monitor, and follow-up on tasks and issues with the product teams
- Review and verify functional and system requirements and ensure project deliverables adhere to QA criteria and comply with the requirements prior to deployment
- Attend QA status meetings
- Participate in code reviews
- Collaborate with co-workers to maintain a single code base
- Coordinate with offshore QA team
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in writing test plans
- Experience with cross-browser platforms
- Experience with JavaScript or similar language
- Ability to follow up, investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production support incidents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Great time management, organization, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to adapt to new situations and learn quickly
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, XPath preferred
- Familiarity with JSON is a plus
- Experience with JIRA or other project tracking tools preferred
- Experience with an automation framework such as Nightwatch or Cypress preferred
- Experience working in an Agile or Kanban environment preferred
- Experience with Git and Bit Bucket or similar source code management tools preferred
- Experience with Postman or similar API testing tool preferred
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- AA degree in IT-related field or equivalent work experience in QA or software development field required; BA or BS degree preferred
- 2 years of overall experience
- Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance experience preferred
