Optician Role:

About the Optician role: Opticians assist customers with frame selection, eyewear fitting, and vision insurance reimbursement. We specialize in educating patients about their eyewear needs as well as their insurance benefits. Development strong patient relations is an important component of this role, and the ability to interact professionally with patients at all times is essential.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Trouble shooting and resolving patient optical concerns
· Maintaining a clean environment throughout the center
· Look up patient insurance eligibility and enter insurance information into POS
· Striving to achieve company target KPIs and individual goals
· Support Optometrist with proper scheduling, transitions, recommendations, and charting.
· Demonstrate product knowledge of lens choices and options
· Minimize internal and external loss by following policies and procedures and performing scheduled inventories
· Monitor patient communication on CRM platform
· Sanitize exam instruments
· Fit glasses to the patient, taking measurements and performing custom adjustments
· Assist patients in shopping for their new stylish eyewear
· Track cleaning supplies and equipment maintenance
· Contact IT, ALE Support, Operations, or other stakeholders as needed with technology troubleshooting.
· Teach patients how to safely insert and remove contact lenses
· Run pre-screening tests for remote and in-person doctors
· Upload exam data to EMR (electronic medical record) systems
· Guide patient through exam process
· Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor throughout patient visit
· Accurately input patient data and maintain digital patient files
· Perform local tests including, slit lamp, auto-refractor, ancillary tests, visual field screening, retinal imaging, and lensmeter
· Troubleshoot connection with remote doctors
· Make lens recommendations based on finalized exam from doctor
· Track cleaning supplies, broken equipment, computer supplies for re-order and maintenance
· Maintaining equipment for daily use
· Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
· Follow all company policies and procedures
· All other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalency
· Ability to navigate sales systems, computers, and calculators
· Basic phone skills
· Basic math skills
· Able to navigate basic data entry
