What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Assistant/Optician position at Eye Care Management, P.C.?
Duties:
- Assist optometrist with patient care, preparing patients for exams, and explaining procedures
- Perform basic vision tests, such as visual acuity and color vision tests
- Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment and instruments
- Assist with contact lens fittings, including insertion and removal training for patients
- Provide support in the selection and fitting of eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Schedule appointments and manage patient records using electronic medical record systems
- Educate patients on proper eye care and hygiene practices
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of optometric systems and procedures
- Understanding of basic physiology related to the eye
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding
- Strong math skills for retail transactions and sales
- Experience in a medical office or retail sales environment preferred
- Knowledge of optometry is a plus
Experience not required. Will train the right person.
