PATIENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Patient Service Representative (PSR)
REPORTS TO: Administrative Services Manager
JOB SUMMARY: The Patient Services Representative will demonstrate consistent, quality service traits achieving positive patient experiences. The Patient Services Representative will provide compassionate, professional assistance to our patients throughout the check-in and check-out process as well as provide skilled services in conjunction with our billing department to effectively and efficiently process charges and claims.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS
- Assist patients with check-in and check-out process.
- Generate schedules for the following day and prep for insurances, patient’s addresses, and making sure patient was scheduled correctly if follow up.
- Ensure patient paperwork is completed and signed.
- Accept payments from patients.
- Schedule appointments.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Excellent communication with Patients and Peers.
· Attention to Detail — Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
· Ability to work directly with Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to ensure ease of patient flow and excellent patient care.
· Integrity — Job requires being honest and ethical.
· Dependability — Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
· Cooperation — Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
· Leadership — Job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
· High School diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, squatting or kneeling, bending. Frequent lifting of 10 pounds or less, occasional lifting of 11-50 pounds. Frequent pushing or pulling of 12 pounds or less, occasional pushing or pulling of 13-100 pounds.
OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception)
· Sense of sound (normal range of hearing)
· Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (gloves, face mask, eye shield, gown)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· An office environment with a controlled atmosphere. Possible exposure to staff or patients with communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens.
