Job Summary
This position is part of Finance and reports to the Vice President of Tax. The Tax Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing all outsourced income tax compliance and tax planning functions for the Company. The Senior Manager is also responsible for researching and interpreting tax laws in all jurisdictions in which the Company operates or intends to operate to comply with the laws of the jurisdictions and to aid in overall tax planning for the Company. Duties include supervising staff and developing processes and internal controls; reviewing federal, state, and local corporate and partnership income tax returns, quarterly estimated payments, and other tax payments; projecting cash flows for income tax payments; responding to various taxing authority notices; assisting with due diligence in mergers and acquisitions; and directing income tax audits.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with due diligence in mergers and acquisitions to identify undisclosed contingent liabilities and recommend structuring; ensure transition of responsibilities after closing.
- Manage / review all tax return compliance, including workpapers to ensure accurate compliance.
- Compute quarterly estimated tax payments; ensure timely payment.
- Research as needed for compliance or as requested.
- Assist with calculating the Company's deferred and current taxes and effective tax rate; maintain Company's gross temporary differences by entity and jurisdiction. Reconcile tax accounts.
- Review tax calculations surrounding fixed assets.
- Manage, create, install, analyze, and document tax controls.
- Manage state and federal audits and other controversy in accordance with policy.
- Manage outside tax advisors in various projects.
- Tax planning to maximize favorable cash flow, reduce effective rate, and reduce tax expense.
- Collaborate with other departments in the Company to analyze business issues to meet objectives and execute strategies.
- Train and develop other staff within the department.
- Design processes and workpapers for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with accounting department for continuous improvement of general ledger data and processes.
- Compute apportionment data for state and local jurisdictions for external tax preparers.
- Assist with maintaining partner information for various partnerships.
- Application of transfer pricing strategies, methods, and accounting.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
- Perform other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.
