Position Summary
The Medical Assistant - ECLSI is responsible for assisting physicians and staff with various duties within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the patient services areas when admitting patients in for surgery and at discharge
- Conducts Pre-Op / Post-Op phone calls to patients
- Helps intraoperatively with turnover and getting patients started for surgery / turning over beds in PACU
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments / Maintains both sterile and clean techniques in the procedure rooms
- Escorts patients to preop or to car when discharged (may assist with walking, pushing wheelchair, assisting to vehicle, etc.)
- Responsible for stocking linens and supplies and helping with inventory counts and orders
- Contributes to a positive team environment through support of the COO, ASC Manager and the Clinic's initiatives
- Bridges the gap between the administrative and clinical staff
- Other duties as assigned
Work Relationship and Scope
The Medical Assistant - ECLSI collaborates closely with all surgical staff, CRNAs, Physicians, patients, and other medical floor staff of Eye Clinic of Wisconsin. This position also works very closely with administration and office staff to assist patients with all aspects of their visit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Work Conditions
EC Laser and Surgery Institute has multiple locations. While staff will be assigned to a "home" location, travel to satellites is a requirement of the position. Hours of work will be dependent on the needs of the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
