About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Charge Nurse to join our team at Eye Surgery Center of Elizabethtown. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating breaks and lunches, daily log checks, schedules, and enforcing policies. You will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct patient care in an individual operating room
- Ensure proper techniques and practices are used in accordance with accepted standards of practice
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, Physicians, and other staff
- Work within a team and balance team and individual responsibilities
Requirements
- At least 1 year of Charge Nurse/management experience is required, preferably in an Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and/or hospital
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
- Valid Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) License required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a team of at least 20 direct reports
- Previous Nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: Operating Room (OR), Pre-Op/Post-Op, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
Language Skills/Computer Skills
- Knowledge of NextGen Database software and Microsoft Word
- Printer, copier, telephone, and fax
- Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment
Physical Demands
- Walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally push up to an excess of 200 pounds
Working Conditions
- Works in well-lit and ventilated surroundings including operating rooms, nurse's stations, procedure rooms, lounge, etc.
