What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Department Patient Counselor position at Eyecare Associates?
This position is primarily responsible for educating patients on surgical procedures and implant options. They will work with the patient from the time the patient enters the center and conduct follow-up calls, promptly, to ensure patients have an amazing experience. This position will also be checking with insurance companies to ensure services are covered under the patient's insurance plan. Provides patients with pre-op counseling including financing and payment options: Receive and secure payments from patients. They will provide a warm and engaging atmosphere to instill confidence in our patients and create an exceptional experience. Additionally, they communicate consistently with OD's who co-manage patients.
Review drop regimen, consents, and surgery instructions according to protocols and forms.
Documenting notes from patient visit; including the plan for surgery include in EHR.
Preparing for the next day of clinic: Review the schedule and patients assigned to counsel, identify any potential medical patients that may turn into a surgical case.
Responsibilities:
- Delivers high customer satisfaction (always friendly and helpful).
- Develops a bond with patients ensuring they feel welcomed, understood, and appreciated during their visits to NVISION centers.
- Through thorough education, overcomes obstacles to scheduling procedures
- Achieves company-set key performance indicators such as average sales price and conversion percentage.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and a friendly manner; and ability to work with a high degree of professionalism.
- Educates patients on preoperative and post-operative eye drops and medications
- Responds to all calls, emails, and inquiries in a timely manner
- Consistently meet sales quota (incentive compensation plan based on achieving key targets).
- Must be willing to travel between offices to follow the doctor's schedule
Qualifications:
- 2 years experience in a sales or customer service role
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to deliver an exceptional patient experience
- 2 years of medical office experience
