As an Optician at Eyes on Knoxville Family Optometry, you will be the go-to expert for eyewear and optical solutions. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with frame selection, lens fitting, adjustments, and providing the highest level of customer service to ensure satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses based on their prescription and lifestyle needs.
- Perform fittings and adjustments for glasses, ensuring optimal comfort and proper fit.
- Educate patients on the care and maintenance of their eyewear, including proper lens cleaning and adjustments.
- Interpret optical prescriptions and provide recommendations for lens options (single vision, bifocal, progressive, etc.).
- Work with the latest optical technology, including digital lenses, and ensure the accuracy of prescriptions in the finished eyewear.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new eyewear trends, technologies, and lens options.
- Process patient orders, including frame and lens selection, and coordinate with laboratories for the timely delivery of eyewear.
- Manage inventory of frames and lenses, ensuring that stock levels are sufficient and updated.
- Handle patient check-ins, check-outs, and insurance verification.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that patients have a positive experience from start to finish.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as an Optician (ABO or equivalent) is preferred.
- Proven experience as an Optician, Optical Technician, or in a customer service role in the optical field. Willing to train.
- Knowledge of eyeglass frame styles, lens types, and optical terminology.
- Familiarity with optical equipment such as lensometers, pupilometers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform adjustments to frames for optimal fit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on customer service.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and maintain a professional attitude under pressure.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Knowledge of insurance billing and vision plans is a plus, but not required.
