A confident optometric technician who has also spent time working in other areas of an optometry practice, specifically optical sales and front desk.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician/Optical Salesperson to join our team. This role will require that you work in different areas of the practice, depending on the needs of the day.

You'll spend some days assisting optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services to our patients. Your responsibilities will include performing preliminary eye exams, managing patient records, and ensuring a smooth flow of operations in the clinic.

Other days will be spent working in the optical area. Get ready to be the ultimate eyewear matchmaker! You’ll help our customers find their perfect frames based on their prescription, lifestyle, and personal fashion preferences.

As a small, independent practice, you'll be part of team who often shares other responsibilities, such as gathering insurance information, placing patient orders, inventory, and patient communication, just to name a few.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary tests and measurements for patients, including visual acuity tests and tonometry.
• Assist optometrists during eye examinations and procedures.
• Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and handling patient communications.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using electronic health record systems such as RevolutionEHR.
• Assist with processing medical billing and coding for insurance claims.
• Provide education to patients regarding eye health, contact lenses, and eyewear options.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive patient experience in the clinic.
• Keep your work areas rooms clean and organized, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
• Retail optical sales (eyeglasses and contact lenses).
• Fitting and adjusting eyewear.
• Contact Lens Insertion and Removal Training.
• Fill in at sister locations is occasionally required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Optometric Tech is required, with a history of optical sales experience being a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with medical coding/billing is advantageous.
• Experience with Contact Lens I&R training is preferred.
• Proficiency in managing medical records and understanding of various healthcare systems, with familiarity of RevolutionEHR being a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff alike.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• A commitment to providing exceptional patient care and support.
