Job Description:
Patient Care Coordinator (Cross-trained for Receptionist/Medical biller/Technician/Optician)
The patient care coordinator is responsible for being cross-trained in a variety of office duties . A detailed overview of all areas of responsibility are covered below.
Receptionist Responsibilities Overview : The receptionist is an important position in any optometric practice. They are the first line of communication between our practice and new customers. A receptionist must be knowledgeable and organized, commanding yet friendly, efficient and a multi-tasker, and they must have good computer skills. They are the face of the business, and as such must be competent, responsible, and enjoy working with people.
Phone:
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-up care exams.
- Answer patient phone questions regarding appointment times, or updating patient information in patient health records.
Medical Biller Responsibilities Overview : A Medical biller is in charge of calculating and collecting payments for medical procedures and services. Their work includes updating patient data, developing payment plans, and preparing invoices. They work in medical administrative offices to ensure that patients are billed quickly and accurately.
Technician Responsibilities Overview:
- Contact Lens Trainings- Teach patients the proper instruction on how to insert and remove contact lens as well as the care of the lenses.
- Visual Field Testing- Administer visual field testing to patients as scheduled.
- Some data entry for the doctors.
Optician Responsibilities Overview:
Sales / Product selection:
- Assist patients with eyeglass frame selection – find the best style, fit and color options for the patient.
- Assist patients with lens selection – recommending lens packages and providing secondary lens package options to enhance patients' quality of life.
- Explain patient insurance questions regarding copay amounts and benefits for eyeglass frames or lens enhancements.
- Order processing and dispensing
- Eyeglass repair and adjustments
