Summary: The Receiving & KD Loading Specialist performs a variety of receiving & loading tasks, including responsibility for incoming freight and outgoing KD loads. Verifies materials received are as ordered. Prepares KD items ensuring shipments are complete and safe. Able to help with deliveries of finished product and local pick-up of components from suppliers as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following Other duties may be assigned.
- Document responsibilities to develop standard work methods.
- Trains back-up(s) on loading and receiving responsibilities.
- Identify how long workloads should take. Cross train to departments when work is complete and time is available.
- Coordinates with KD department to properly prepare materials, communicate Back orders and trouble shoot shipping issues.
- Perform quality checks of goods shipped and received.
- Reviews bill of lading; check items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
- Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; Notifies purchasing department of any issues.
- Inspects outgoing shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies Logistics Managers of any issues.
- Ensure all employees abide by the safety regulations.
- Responsible to keep loading dock clean of any debris at all times.
- Perform routine equipment checks and reporting issues to maintenance
- Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
- Verifies packing slip matches physical shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
- Picks items from shop floor and yard to stack or kit for KD loads.
- Performs delivery and pick-ups of local supplier components
- May operate Semi- truck, dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate shrink-wrap machine.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and control standards.
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Utilizes knowledge of shipping, palletizing, and boxing procedures to maximize efficiencies and protect the parts or product during transit.

Education and/or Experience: Current class A CDL license, High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
