Designs would have a strict budget for material and labor costs to manufacture the new products. Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-reliability embedded hardware and other circuits for real-world applications.
- Understand detailed specifications (absolute, thermal, electrical, static and dynamic timing, power turn on and off) of all semiconductor and passive components while designing these circuits.
- Perform detailed circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout review for optimal signal integrity and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Select high-quality electronic components to ensure long-term availability and robustness.
- Conduct rigorous design validation, testing, and debugging at both the board and system levels.
- Work closely with firmware engineers to optimize hardware/software integration.
- Implement power-efficient designs while maintaining strict performance standards.
- Develop and execute reliability tests, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations of prototypes, pilot production runs and field returns to enhance design integrity and durability. We are a QS9000 8D root cause analysis company.
- Ensure compliance with safety, EMI/EMC, and regulatory standards (FCC, CE, UL, etc.).
- Generate detailed documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and design rationale for traceability.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and participate in peer reviews.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics
- 7 years of experience in low cost yet high-reliability embedded hardware design.
- Thorough designer who looks at all component specifications thoroughly, has deep understanding of circuits (no copy and paste, no AI aids as interview with our Chairman quickly removes unworthy candidates).
- Thorough designer who is so confident of paper design that it can go straight to production without prototyping.
- Innovative thinker in circuit and product design.
- Strong expertise in analog/digital circuit design, high-speed interfaces, Switching power supplies and mixed-signal systems.
- Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and embedded processors.
- Deep knowledge of PCB design principles, stack-up considerations, and signal integrity analysis.
- Proficiency with schematic capture (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad) and PCB layout review tools.
- Experience with power management, thermal considerations, and fault-tolerant design.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and regulatory compliance testing.
- Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- Ability to document designs thoroughly and communicate complex concepts effectively.
- Passion for designing low cost yet highly reliable, mission-critical embedded systems.
