What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist - Outpatient Hand Therapy Clinic position at F F Thompson Hospital?
Join our dynamic, interdisciplinary team at Thompson Health, where each member is valued for their unique expertise. Our growing OT/Hand Therapy team provides exceptional patient care in collaboration with leading hand surgeons, including the University of Rochester Hand Surgery Group. We are seeking a motivated individual, either a CHT or an OT working towards CHT certification, with experience in neurological outpatient therapy also considered. This full-time (40 hours/week) position is in our outpatient rehabilitation/hand therapy clinic. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating upper extremity conditions (pre and post-op), with timely documentation and custom orthotic fabrication. Strong teamwork and collaboration with surgeons and referring providers are essential.
Main Function:
- Plans, coordinates, evaluates and provides Outpatient Occupational Therapy services in accordance with standards of the AOTA and The Occupational Therapy Practice Act, NYS Department of Health, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
- Effectively leads the activities of designated discipline.
- Actively supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the Health System.
Required Job Specific Competencies:
- The Occupational Therapist must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs and to the care needed for effective treatment.
- Must demonstrate the skills necessary to evaluate and treat injuries within their scope of practice.
- Additionally, the Occupational Therapist must be competent in the clinical application of therapeutic modalities.

Qualifications:
- NYS Occupational Therapy licensure
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
- Minimum one year experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred
- Hand Therapy experience required
- Certified Hand Therapist preferred
- Skilled in custom orthotic fabrication
- Effective communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians regarding therapy and patient care
Pay Range: $35.00 -$45.00
Starting Range: Based on Experience
