Safety Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be posted until filled.

 This position requires an electrical utility background in linework, utility line construction/maintenance, utility or line contractor safety and/or management. 

The candidate should expect to spend most of their time in Southwest Florida with occasional travel to the East Coast.  Other location needs will be directed as needed.

Relocation Assistance may be available.

The safety manager’s responsibilities will be conducting, facilitating, and executing, an established safety program both with and without direct oversight. Working directly with the safety director, the safety manager will oversee a team of safety coordinators working in multiple locations throughout the state of Florida. The safety manager will perform and review safety audits, track the data to discover leading and lagging indicators, identify trends, and gaps that need to be addressed, and come up with the programs needed to address accordingly. The safety manager will have supervisory duties, budgetary considerations, tooling upkeep and management, and training requirements.

The safety manager will also have field facing responsibilities in working with and supporting the safety coordinators and trainers across the state in performing crew visits, skills assessments, and progression assessments. The safety manager will also spend time conducting and overseeing skills-based training with the local safety trainers. Ability to work in accordance with OSHA compliance, industry-specific regulations and company-specific policies and procedures while creating and maintaining employee training records are vital to this role. This person will work closely with the director of safety, company leadership, operations center personnel, and customer representatives, to ensure adherence to Company and Customer's safety policies and procedures.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Company and Crew compliance with following the companies Safety Procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Handbook and Work Methods Manual.
  • Conduct Field Audits and skills assessments.
  • Track employee training and make sure all employees' training is up to date.
  • Craft and create refresher training programs and assist with presenting and conducting the training.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Products and their functions
  • Competency in the ability to speak, coach, and teach teammates in safety-related meetings and training sessions.
  • Willingness to take the lead in structuring safety culture and adapting to change our ever-evolving safety culture process.
  • Be able to manage a team of field trainers daily.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the overhead and underground electrical utility industry.
  • Journeyman Lineman experience preferred, will consider line work experience in the Underground Utility Sector as equivalent.
  • Able to travel throughout the F&H footprint as required.
  • Willingness to perform other duties that align with the operational needs of the organization.

Preferred:

·        Experience: Minimum 2 years in a leadership capacity.

·        Experience actively engaging in a utility safety program.

·        Experience leading in electrical safety space.

·        OSHA Training and Certifications

·        Spanish/English Bilingual desired


This position will report directly to the Director of Safety and Training. Position will be primarily based out of Southwest FL. Daytime travel will be often, and overnight travel will be sporadic, but required. Storm response is required when directed by customers.
