Head of Medical Communication & Medical ExcellenceThe Position This OpportunityTo lead Medical Communication (MC) and Medical Excellence (ME) teams to achieve long term sustainable functional excellence in China.Accountable for building up the capacity and capability of MC and ME teams.Actively build up cross-functional communication and collaboration to ensure effective and seamless interaction with other functions within and outside Medical Division.Actively explore partnership opportunities with 3rd party companies, institutes, and organizations.Strict adherence to the company’s corporate policies, SOP, and local regulations for all team activities.Contribute to the strategic development to establish ways of working to enable consistent delivery of Medical Affairs value.Improve better patient outcomes through managing Medical Affairs effectiveness framework, project advancement, and talent development to drive medical excellence.Principle Roles & Responsibilities / Accountabilities(Major functions of the position)MC Scope : To lead the Medical Communication (MC) team to achieve long term sustainable functional excellence in China.Take lead in Medical Communication strategy development to deliver professional information covering more customers faster.Take overall responsibility for external and internal customer enquiry service for Roche products.Drive consistent implementation of promotional / non-promotional material review / approval process to ensure compliance with Medical Governance requirements, local regulations, and Global standards.Accountable for building up the capacity and capability of MC team.Build trust and communication among team members and broader stakeholders by setting a highly visible example of medical science excellence.Motivate all team members to work towards the aligned goal, provide coaching and support to team members, and be responsible for team member recruitment and career development.Actively build up cross-functional communication and collaboration to ensure effective and seamless interaction with other functions within and outside Medical Division.Develop and strengthen partnership among key internal stakeholders to ensure effective internal communication.Ensure effective cross-functional alignment to maximize company resources in customer-facing activities.Strict adherence to the company’s corporate policies, SOP, and local regulations for all team activities.ME Scope : Drive strategic and organizational alignmentDrive alignment and coordination of goals, priorities, and efforts for the Medical Affairs Department.Establish and maintain a structure for co-creation and co-execution of OBP.Lead cross-therapeutic areas and functions strategic programs to support Medical Affairs priorities.Develop and support the Medical Affairs team around future-looking vision, mission, and strategic initiatives.Lead operational efforts to execute medical excellenceLead in working across boundaries within the broader organization and cross-functional teams to establish excellent ways of working / process workflows.Lead in developing integrated medical plans across the Medical Affairs department to prioritize tasks to ensure strategic focus and timely execution of deliverables.Enable the operational effectiveness of Medical Affairs to manage complexity and oversee performance, budget, and resources; responsible for development & delivery of medical dashboard and associated metrics with cross-functional teams through timely collection, reporting, and aligned interpretation of performance metrics and key activities across the Medical Affairs department.Drive for people excellenceDrive development of Medical Affairs competencies; oversight of Medical Affairs professional development and training, both in terms of technical as well as soft skills.People development and management to build up the capacity and capability of the medical excellence team by providing coaching and feedback to team members.Qualification and ExperienceEducation / QualificationsMaster in Clinical Medicine, Pharma, or Science required; advanced degree (MD or PhD) preferred.At least 10 years professional experience within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a medical affairs function.A minimum of 3 years’ experience in people leadership.Leadership CompetenciesAbility to influence and manage in a matrix organization.Ability to build an effective team and handle difficult people issues.Excellent influential, communication, and negotiation skills.Strong cross-functional collaboration capability; self-motivated.Job Required CompetenciesStrategic agility with innovative approaches.Deep understanding of medical affairs value to the whole business, customers, and patients.Abundant experience in medical affairs.Good English communication in both verbal and written.Travel Frequency25%Who we are At Roche, more than 100,000 people across 100 countries are pushing back the frontiers of healthcare.
