Beacon Mobility is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. The ideal candidate is a multi-task-oriented vehicle maintenance professional that possesses strong leadership and maintenance skills. This position is responsible for leading, planning, and implementing the preventive maintenance, inspection, and, repair of School bus, light duty vehicles, and Support equipment.
This position will supervise a direct staff of 2-10 employees to ensure maintenance goals are met. The ideal candidate will have strong maintenance and operations skills capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment. Candidate is responsible for managing all components of vehicle maintenance and garage functions.
Job Responsibilities
- Set the standard for excellence in the maintenance department. Models, leads, and trains staff to ensure continuous improvement in all areas relevant to position.
- Responsible for the execution of the preventive maintenance and repair program to ensure vehicle safety and operating efficiency.
- Prioritize garage workload based on business requirements, parts availability, and manpower
- Advise the Director of Maintenance of vehicle and equipment status.
- Ensures regulatory compliance with all state and local laws and regulations related to vehicle maintenance
- Manage the Inspection (DOT, emissions, etc) process in accordance with applicable State and Federal policies and regulations
- Manage & supervise the garage staff with responsibility for scheduling work assignments, managing performance, disciplining, and accurate processing of their timekeeping and payroll records & authorizing overtime
- Trains and directs fleet maintenance personnel on safest and most efficient methods of performing preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Regularly communicate with operations regarding status of fleet vehicles, and/or other equipment
- Works closely with operations Manager and Dispatchers to coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules.
- Maintain adherence to company policy regarding operations and safety issues. Maintain a safe and productive work environment for all employees.
- Control maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs
- Create and ensure accuracy of parts & fluids inventories
- Assure all data pertaining to the maintenance operation is available for input into the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS) or work orders in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensures compliance with Beacon goals and KPI’s established for maintenance.
- Interact in a professional manner with employees, vendors, suppliers and contractors
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized fleet maintenance facility.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications
- Vocational training in automotive technology or equivalent, and six (6) years of experience related to heavy or light vehicle maintenance.
- Minimum of five (5) years. experience in managing a large work group with demonstrated performance as well as managing remote locations
- ASE Master Automotive, Medium or Heavy Truck and Master Automobile certifications preferred
- Specific training and/or extensive experience in maintenance or a related field, preferably in a supervisory role position, is required.
- Prior experience in supervising, directing, and/or training employees is perferred
- Prior experience with Fleet Management Information systems (FMIS)
- Advanced PC Skills - MS Office with an emphasis on Excel. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology (Comdata, NetSuite, etc).
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills obtaining buy-in and reaching consensus through collaborative efforts.
- Respond to correspondence (phone, email, etc.) with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness
- Customer oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
