Position Title: Tax Accountant 1
Business Unit: Finance
Reports to: Varies by Assignment
Position Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting in the tax accounting provision process, including deferred taxes, and reporting under ASC 740. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation of federal, state and local tax returns, and assisting with other tax-related projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepares federal, state, and local tax returns by collecting, analyzing, and formatting financial and tax information. Also prepares personal property, certain sales and use, and other tax returns. Completes analysis, supporting schedules and documentation, including position memos, for tax filings.
Assists with the tax provision process, in accordance with ASC 740, including gathering and analyzing financial information needed for compiling SEC footnotes, tax accounts roll forwards and deferred tax analysis including fixed assets.
Calculates and processes monthly, quarterly and annual state and local estimated tax payments. Prepares journal entries for taxes.
Performs various tasks related to tax credit partnerships, including accounting reconciliations and journal entries.
Assists with periodic assessments of internal controls related to Sarbanes-Oxley 404 certification as it relates to income tax processes, and coordinates with internal and external audit the testing of these controls.
Assists with the handling and responses to federal, state and local tax notices and audits in a timely manner.
Maintains knowledge of tax updates and legislative changes.
Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
