Position Title: Capital Markets Analyst
Business Unit: Commercial Banking
Reports To: Varies by Assignment
Position Overview
This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Capital Markets team in originating, structuring and distributing broadly-syndicated bank transactions. The incumbent assists in drafting offering memoranda, creating pitch book presentations and building cash flow models and assists the Business Credit team as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
Supports Syndicated Finance team’s due diligence efforts on the client's or prospect's business, operations and financial condition to execute new lead arrangement transactions. Evaluates industry and market characteristics, trends and outlook to help the Syndicated Finance and Relationship Management teams better understand the businesses of new and existing clients.
Builds financial models to determine a borrower's ability to repay its debt and to evaluate various financing alternatives. Analyzes borrowers’ historical financial performance to articulate operating trends for internal credit decision makers and external investors.
Assists in analysis for preparation of opportunity assessment memos and underwriting packages to present to senior management and approval committees.
Researches comparable market transactions to find trends in pricing, tenor and covenant structures to supplement underwriting packages, create opportunity assessment memos, prepare pitch books and prepare offering memorandums. Develops deep working knowledge of external news and information resources.
Maintains syndicated loan comparable transactions database. Posts transaction information for potential investors to web-based deal sites.
Assist in the compilation of marketing and research materials including review of current market conditions, term sheets and comparable transaction analysis. Assists Syndicated Finance team in maintenance of pitch book template and preparation of client presentations and of the Confidential Information Memorandum and the Lender Presentation.
Tracks transaction progress throughout the documentation and closing process.
Assist in compiling deal expenses, transaction funds flows and fee reporting.
Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
