The Free Press is growing fast. We need experienced editors who can respond quickly to news events, craft smart stories, and get the best out of writers. You may be a newspaper editor used to daily deadlines. You might be a magazine editor with a gift for narrative, hungry to tell stories beyond the mission of your current outletOr you might be someone who has done both-and is simply craving a new challenge.
RequirementsIf this sounds like you, here are the criteria to apply : At least five years working as an editor. You must also be currently working as an editor at a newspaper, magazine, news show, or other outlet.A background that demonstrates you have worked on tight deadlines and can do work that is both excellent and fast.A passion for The Free Press : you've read our stories, you understand our mission, and you know just how you can bring value to our team.An ability to coach writers-especially writers just getting started in their careers-helping them deliver their best work.Eagerness to work in a start-up environment. You aren't just breaking news; you are building a newsroom. 150,000 - $200,000 a year
Final offers for this job will be made within the parameters of this range, taking into account experience. In addition to a competitive salary, The FP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans and long-term incentive & bonus programs.
